MOODLE is the acronym for "Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment", a free learning support software, run in a virtual environment (see virtual learning environment). The term also designates the Learning Management System in collaborative work based on this software or platform, accessible through the Internet or local area network. In colloquial language, in English the verb "to moodle" describes the process of navigating unpretentiously for something while doing other things at the same time.

Used mainly in a context of e-learning or b-learning, the program allows the creation of online courses, course pages, work groups and learning communities, being available in 75 different languages. It has 25,000 registered websites in more than 175 countries.
